Hi, I’m Julie Katherine (Julie K!), the founder of Julie K Events.
I love a beautiful wedding—the flowers, the setting, the little details that make it yours. But my favourite part? Seeing you relax, celebrate, and soak it all in with your favourite people, knowing the details are covered.
Before wedding timelines and bouquets, there were boarding passes and suitcases. I worked as a flight attendant in Canada and Dubai, moving to Dubai in 2011. Travelling the world introduced me to different cultures, celebrations, and a love of thoughtful hospitality.
My planning journey began in Dubai in 2013, where the city’s “anything is possible” attitude encouraged me to dream big and ask, “How can we make this happen?” When I founded Julie K Events in Canada in 2017, I brought that same spirit home with me.
A helicopter ride to exchange vows on a remote island off Halifax? Absolutely! It’s still one of my favourite celebrations—a beautiful reminder of what a little imagination and a lot of careful planning can create.
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, I now spend my summers on the East Coast and my winters in Calgary. In Nova Scotia, I offer wedding planning, month-of and day-of coordination, and all-inclusive elopements, from sailboat celebrations to private-island experiences. In Alberta, I focus exclusively on all-inclusive wedding experiences.
Behind the scenes, I’m also a mama of two little ones. Life with a young family is full of cuddles, snack requests, and the occasional cup of coffee reheated three times! I’ve stepped back from a packed wedding schedule to be present for these early years. I now take on a limited number of celebrations, giving each couple the care, creativity, and attention they deserve while making room for my family.
With more than a decade of experience, I bring creative ideas, honest advice, and a calm head when plans need adjusting. I want to hear what matters to you, help you feel confident in your decisions, and create a celebration that feels like yours. There’s a new chapter coming, too: a book, my Nova Scotia Wedding Venue Guide, and downloadable planning templates. I’m putting years of experience onto the page, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
